Get a license to be a private investigator in your home state and other states will probably reciprocate. Learn the insurance claims process. Market yourself to insurance companies and independent adjusters as a claims investigator, get a web site, some business cards and get out and do it.

Security companies usually require a special license from your state. Someone would have to test and qualify to receive the agency license. The individuals you hire would also need licenses. In addition to all of that red tape you will need the usual insurance and employment coverage.

Everyday more people turn to the internet as a convenient means of gathering information, but recently government agencies and large corporations have taken it upon themselves to infringe on the privacy of everyday internet users. Can any of you elaborate on the infrigement that is done by government and corporations that has affected you? Such as spam, identity theft. How do you feel about cookies being stores about your web habits?
9  Talk about Home Security - Home Security Forum / Home Security Forum / Know who you let in your home. on: November 20, 2009, 09:13:43 AM
Know who you let in your home. 90% of all home burglaries are committed by someone who has been in the home in the recent past. Most are by amateurs who turn out to be juveniles and it happens in the mid afternoon. Car prowls on the other hand happen at night when the car is parked on the street. Basic intrusion systems involve window and door sensors that are activated by opening them.
Other than yourselves, what is in your home that you wish to protect?
What items could be stolen. Highly desirable items such as TV's stereos and computers are the primary targets besides cash

12  Talk about Home Security - Home Security Forum / Home Security Forum / Home Security tips on: November 19, 2009, 11:40:48 AM
What could slow down a burglar from entering your home? Simple home security devices such as locks on doors(deadbolts are best) and windows, bars, grates-items that are visible from the exterior of the house will not only act as a deterrent but slow down an intruder should he decide to try to enter. The more time it takes to break into a home, the more discouraged a burglar will become. Time is the enemy of the burglar.
13  Talk about Home Security - Home Security Forum / Home Security Classifieds / Re: Safety First Equipment today now!! on: November 17, 2009, 02:06:41 PM
I know that many companies in my industry have blurred the boundaries between the two by offering a free alarm system when you sign up for monitoring with them. The problem is that you pay far more than a fair price for the monitoring because coupled with the monitoring fee there is a premium for the "free" alarm system. My 1st suggestion for you is to stay clear of the "free" alarm marketers. The reason I say that is because you only sign a contract for monitoring. Yes they supply you with an alarm system in your home but it's usually a poor representation of an alarm at best, & if it never does the job you expected it to you will have no recourse.
14  Other Forums / Off Topic Forum / Small Claims... on: November 17, 2009, 02:04:34 PM
Some small claims courts actually will not allow you to "take the hit," so to speak. This makes sense from that standpoint that the purpose of small claims court is to make you whole. Rendering a verdict of $3,000 for a dispute that cost you $7,000 certainly does not make you whole.
Some small claims judges will simply dismiss your case without prejudice. You will need to check on the specific rules in your jurisdiction.
You will need to prove your case by a preponderance of the evidence -- meaning more likely than not. Other than that, it's difficult, if not impossible, to say what proof you need without listening to what the other side has to say. That's why judges listen to both sides before making a decision.
15  Talk about Home Security - Home Security Forum / Home Security Forum / Re: Security Door Weld fails on: November 14, 2009, 12:29:15 PM
Home security means security of human beings and house hold items including valuable articles. The burglars and intruders apply many tricks for intrusion in the house. Mostly these intruders make intrusion during night and in off hours of the day that is in the noon.Electronic devices like security systems, alarms, cctv cameras etc. are used for security measures. A house owner should also think about some additional protective measures that can be easily implemented by making some additions or alterations to the house and by keeping watch in surrounding area of the house.
