DOGS;

A barking dog is another line of defence around you, because it will detect intruders before they reach the house. In one theatre of operations In which i was involved, our target was based near a farmyard. Because of the farm dogs we simply could'nt get close enough to carry out observation on the target. We tried time and time again, but on every occasion the dogs would bark notifying the owners of our presence and we had to withdraw. In the end we were forced to accept that it was impossible to achieve the physical presence to carry out surveillance and we had to use other means to gain the information we needed. A dog initially costs less than an alarm system and is one of the best security devices you can have in a house, always provided it's big enough to deter, but not so vicious that it threatens your kids and family. A small dog like a poodle or spaniel is not much use , but a bigger one as you have described in your post that will bark at the right times is a real deterrent. I will be covering a whole section on Dogs and the difference between Attack dogs and Guard dogs in the next few days at
www.securityconcerns.co.uk, i hope this gives you some insight into Dogs and security as a whole.
